The sculpture garden is open six days a week Call for hours: 940-767-2787
The Sculpture Garden at the Kemp Center for the Arts has six permanent sculptures and ten sculptures that are changed out annually. Each spring ten new sculptures are installed by Joe Ed Barrington of Throckmorton, Texas for a year long exhibit.
A Guest curator is named each year by the Sculpture Garden Committee and each curator chooses sculptures for the annual exhibit which is known as Art on the Green.
In 2007 Gus Kopriva, of Houston, Texas, chose sculptures from the Houston area. Kopriva has curated over fifty international/national exhibitions and has been a fervent collector for over thirty years in all media. Trained as a professional engineer, Kopriva began his visual arts career as a Board member of the original Lawndale Art Annex at the University of Houston, working with director, James Surls. He balances a career in industry as a Corporate Engineering Director with a passion for the arts as a curator, lecturer, fundraiser, and gallery owner.
